Russian activists attend an anti-Gazprom tower rally in St Petersburg.

Residents hold a rally protesting against the building of the Okhta Centre Tower in St. Petersburg October 10, 2009. The 400-metre-tall (1,312-feet) Okhta Centre, the proposed new headquarters of the Gazprom Neft Company, will be one of the tallest office buildings in Europe if built. Most citizens and professional architects are vehemently against the project, which would see the erection of a supertall skyscraper right next to St Petersburg’s historic city centre. The tower,Okhta Centre (also known as Gazprom City), would ruin the city’s unique skyline.
